We made it to the end of the academic year! I want to congratulate all of you on an incredibly productive year, even with many changes at the highest levels of our university administration.
These include a new president, executive vice president for academic affairs and chief academic officer, executive vice president and chief administrative officer, and leadership shifts in three out of four Chancellor-Led Units.
Organizational changes of this magnitude can be rattling, but we were undeterred. Here are some of our major accomplishments:
- Implementation of the reorganization
- Incredible progress toward ADA Title II compliance
- Launch of the University Librarian’s Symposium Series that involved two daylong symposia on Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education
- Weeding of more than 105,000 items from our physical collections and submitting more than 30,000 physical items to Google Books to be digitized.
- Robert Wood Johnson Library’s move to its new space in the HELIX building in New Brunswick
- A special Institute of Jazz Studies event (with a traveling exhibit!) for alumni in London
- A major collaboration between Special Collections and University Archives and Middlesex County on an America 250 exhibit at Cornelius Low House Museum in Piscataway
- Robeson Library’s work with an undergraduate history class to support the creation and mounting of a student-curated exhibit exploring “America’s Birthdays,” on display now in the library >>See the story in this issue
While this is an astounding list, it represents only a fraction of our work as an organization. Please know how much I value your contributions throughout the year. Every role, every interaction, and every effort contributes to the success of our mission.
