Letter to the Libraries

It has already been a full year since we set our reorganization in motion! In August 2025, we implemented a new organizational structure that replaced the historical divisional silos and aligned our staffing with functional priorities.

For a full year, we have had instruction and reference services that are coordinated across Rutgers; a universitywide research services team; and centralized digital services, information technology services, and shipping and receiving; and we have invested in professional enrichment opportunities for all faculty and staff. Through these coordinated efforts, we’ve realized a higher level of service, numerous work efficiencies, and cost savings. We’re also closer than ever to achieving our One Libraries vision. It’s worth taking a moment to reflect on and celebrate how far we’ve come.

As we all gear up for the busy fall semester, I want to thank you for all you are doing to welcome incoming and returning students, support teaching and learning, advance research and innovation, and engage our communities.

Please know that you have my appreciation (always) and enjoy the remaining weeks of summer!
